Given the 6.5 Creedmoor “out-bob’s-the-bob,” I kinda doubt it.

Ruger is probably your only hope.

I've got several rifles chambered in 257 Roberts and 257AI. Of them all, if limited to 1, I'd struggle between the Remington 700 CDL-SF that is bedded in a McM Hunter stock and the Ruger 77 RSI parts gun.

Montana Rifle Company. I've read good and bad about them.

ETA: I just saw this thread from yesterday. So buyer beware. And they are not lightweight at all. I saw a new 308 SS Extreme on Gunbroker for less than $1,000 and almost bought it. But I'm glad I didn't.

The manufacture of the Roberts seems to run in cycles lately. I remember Ruger made a few in the mid 70's; then Winchester around 1980 followed by Remington etc. It's been how many, about 5-6 years since any of these companies have made a run of them, perhaps soon?

Yeah and seeing Sierra discontinuing several of our favorite 25 cal bullets puts doubt in my mind as well.

The 257R does best with a 3" action.

Mine is on a 3.4" 700 LA. Too much room is better than not enough. This one was tweaked by a master smith, one of the smoothest feeding bolt guns I have regardless of where the ctg is positioned.

Totally agree.

It's an antiquated round too long with its SAAMII spec'd throat for a modern 2.8" SA. It's a bit small for a 3.4" LA. Neither fish nor foul.

I love the round, but mainly for nostalgia's sake. The Creedmoor really is a "Better Bob."

I'm sure the 6.5 Quagmire will shortly cure even world hunger...

A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

Love the 257 R . I bought a 70 FW xtr from a member here and heart shot a doe with it this Fall. She sure has tasted good.

100 TTSX at 3,250 fps over H-100V is a deer killer.

About 25-06 lite.
