Interesting on the recoil differences, good to know, hope Barrett picks up a deal with you guys, have always liked a nice handy walnut and stainless steel rifle, I think they look good together.

Walked into my 'Smiths shop one day to pick up a rifle, he had a 98 mauser action laying on a counter top, all it said on it was HEYM/GERMANY, it didn't even have a serial number, I had been hankering for a 9.3x62mm and ask about the action, he said 400 bucks and it yours, go get me a barrel, reamer and some sights and i'll build you a hell of a rifle, I did, and he did, when he finished, I sent the barreled action over to Accurate Innovations for a nice walnut stock with the aluminum chassis, I picked the blank, it's a beauty.
I shoot 320gr PP Woodleigh Weldcores at 2400 fps, and for chits and grins 280gr BBW-#13 solids at 2500+ fps in the rifles 25" barrel with RL-17 powder, the 1.75-6 leupold sitting in talley QD levers is perfect for this set up imho,, another hellaciously accurate rifle, i'll take it to Africa some day and try it out on some heavy plains game. gunner500, Did Accurate Innovations of N Dakota build your stock or the current owners in N. Carolina? Pics on the way to your e-mail K22. I just couldn't help myself gunner500, this beautiful rifle needs posted here. What can you tell us about the barreled action? Getting my gear mixed up again, I stated this rifle wore Talley QD's, I did with the 1.5-5 leupold, these are Burris QD rings with steel Warne bases, also, anyone using QD levers may want to notice the position of these levers, any lever positioned below 3 to 9 o'clock will use the swing or bob weight of the levers themselves on recoil to help keep them tight for you, levers placed above and especially at 12 o'clock will loosen themselves in a few rounds fired, 'especially' the harder kickers.

Several good things said about the Dumoulin Mauser 98 Action (Belgian Made 0.473" bolt) through SARCO. For $400 I can't see how you could go wrong and it is available according to the site. Read comments and the negative is scope mount screws, mounts and rings, which appear to be pretty expensive to outfit. Best of luck with your build.
My choice. Talley makes scope ring bases for the Dumoulin action. https://www.talleymanufacturing.com...dumoulin-2&query_type_product_tag=or

Whoo Hoo! Must be exciting to launch those. Any idea as to chamber pressure?

Yes, it's a blast, and not technically, I don't have any of the fancy cup/psi/strain gauge measuring equipment, I go off of the chrono, casehead expansion, primer pocket tightness and bolt lift, all good here, iirc I'm on load rotation number three with Hornady brass, all good so far.

I've got a BRNO 21 that had some work done by Ralf Martini,...
Want a mauser action and have been wondering if some of the modern mauser actions would be a better choice? Eg GMA, FZH, Prechtl
Thoughts?
Just ask Ralph Martini...chances are he's worked with just about every M98 design derivative and knows what they are all like better than anyone on the CF. After meeting him and having some discussions, I found him to be a no BS sincere straight shooter.
In my eyes there are no better commercial made M98, then the ZG-47, expect the very rare Oberndorf square brigde actions. .
then Get your eyes checked. I would rate the "custom" M98 Harman & Weiss Prechtl FZH GMA Vector And actual Mauser?
Then: Oberndorf with integral square bridges BRNO ZG-47 BRNO 21 the OP wants a trim lightweight 9,3x62, I doubt the magnum mauser length Hartmann Weiss is well suited to such project.
-Bulletproof and Waterproof don't mean Idiotproof.

then Get your eyes checked. Please enlighten us... what other commercial made M98 has all its attributes from the factory as the ZG-47? - Square bridges - Bolt handle that clears scopes quite low and without altering it - Safety that works with a scope and locks the bolt down - C-ring - Excellent simple trigger - Bottom metal, that you dont have to pay hundreds of $ for I´ll wait! The 21/22 is nicer finished and small ring.. then you have to spend hundreds to get it up to ZG-47 standards.
And now I know you have no clue what you are talking about... You dont even know that Hartman makes Short, Standard and Magnum M98s.. Jesus Christ!!

I built mine on a VZ-24....and would do it again THIS! On a BRNO 21 beware of the bolt handle type and scope height. The butterknife handle will need skillful modification to keep esthetics.

I've always favored the 98, it is lighter and handles better than say a Factory cz550. I like the CZ, and they are accurate, just too chunky for my tastes. here's a 550 that was reworked: this was a Husqvarna 9,3x57 I rechambered to 9,3x62: And this a 98 WIP, open sight only: Yeah, I kinda like the 98 in 9,3x62.

My current favorite: Rates a Two-Cool! It's my taste in rifles, also. My 9,3X62 is just right. Moderate weight, Classic lines, 24" barrel, FN Mauser action... It's not nearly as much fun as doing a custom, but it saved me enough to go on a nice hunt.
