I've got McMillian stock that the stock stud has come loose. Came loose while shooting with a bi-pod. It's an older winlite. I dremmeled out the stud hole and made a huge mess trying to epoxy the stud back in laugh So I'm down for the day waiting for what I cleaned up to dry. However, it got me thinking that this is a really small nut the post screws into. Is there something more robust out here to install. Would like to use a bi-pod so this stud will see some pressure on it. I plan to call McMillian but thought I'd ask the experts here too.

Swivel studs are a standard 10-32 thread. You can drill and tap a larger piece of metal and inlet it into the stock, securing with epoxy.

PM me - I've got several things you can use but when building/modifying composite I've had great results with knurled brass nuts bedded in the stock. I've also got 10-32 'studs' to protect the hole when ever you take the sling-swivel stud out. I advise using that when shooting on a rest or with hard bags - you'd be surprised how many sling swivel stud 'sleeves' get battered loose because people only think to take a sling off, and leave the swivel stud (clevis-head bolt) to catch on front and/or rear bags when they shoot. Anyway, I can fix you up.

BTW, not all sling swivels are 10-32 - some including Uncle Mike's also use 10-24 bolts and some have really course, wood screw threads which I've seen even on composite stocks.
