I recently got an EG with a lot of holes in the left side of the receiver. They match the Pachmayr side mount. I'm hoping to find the mount and improve the appearance of this rifle.
Not much with iron sites in any case. If anyone has a spare that they would part with please PM me.
Regards,
Wiley

I know I've got one on a very nice EG that Rick99 got my wife to buy (and I wish he'd teach ME that trick), for some reason it's in my head I may have a second. But if I do, I'm sure it goes to another gun.

Yes indeed, that's very nice!
Mine is fairly nice, I got carried away and agreed to buy it before I noticed the holes
Not much for going back on a deal
Holes attached

You should be able to find one. Pachmayrs don’t get much respect and are probably pulled off a gun as soon as it gets home. I’m surprised nobody here has one to cut loose.

According to a Pachmayr pamphlet I just looked at on eBay you need part number S-99T.

Not a bad idea 60 years ago when scopes would fog up if you looked at them crossways on a cold morning, not so much now. Personally I'd rather have a bunch of filler screws on the side of the receiver than one of those mounts.

Having the choice between scope and iron sights has merit to me but for different reasons. I like an aperture-sighted rifle with the scope carried separately for occasional use, in a rugged precision QD mount, to wit: the Griffin and Howe system. I put my money where my mouth is and have two Mausers so equipped, one of which was my primary deer rifle from the mid-90's to the mid-00's. If I could afford it I would do that to all of my bolt action hunting rifles. (I actually have a G&H QD side mount base for a 99 waiting for a victim. But the big drawback I see about that kind of mount is the awfully thin receiver sides which don't offer much depth for screw threads. I think it would be smart to solder it on. How's that for Bubba'ing a collectible 99? grin And no, I'm not poised to actually do it, mainly because I don't like scopes on 99's for ergonomic reasons.)

Cool
Has an old weaver and everything. I think I have a couple of these one that is pretty nice and another well worn, I think the rings part is what is hard to find.

The one of mine above is a 7/8” rings set. 1” would be much more flexible!

It looks like the Pachmayr mount puts the scope up pretty high and ya might need a comb riser to make it work.

Rorys, mount looks like the top part might be custom for the 7/8" scope.I have a number of those in 1" mounts and the scope mounts very low. There is a small pin that hits on the reciever so that i comes back to zero each time you flip it over and back. most of them look like the one kenster posted.I know most here dont like them, but i dont mind because there is no holes drilled thru the savage markings ,like weaver mounts do. Mine may just not be pushed all the way over, but the top does look different.

Seller had a Lyman Alaskan in it, but he was selling that separately and the price was too much.

So how does that Norman Ford Texan compare to the Lyman Alaskan?

Haven't taken it out and shot it, but quality wise it I can't tell the difference just looking out the window. I mean it's not like they are ultra high power.

Though I got some surprisingly good groups out of my EG in 250-3000 with a Lyman Alaskan with post reticle.

Thanks. I was always curious as the Alaskan and Texan scopes appear to be very similar.
