We wouldn't even be talking about Greta Van Zeppelin if it wasn't for those two songs above. And they deny their zeppelin influences.

Has anyone mentioned David Coverdale yet?

I've liked a lot of these guys music and the lead singer (what this thread is about , no?) is heard better "unplugged".

Liked his voice well enough Ian Astbury

Chris Cornell pretty bad ass.

Like all sorts of voices, even Robert Smith

But Peter Steele is my fave.

Benetar is often overlooked. Amy Lee has a good voice.

For guys just for pure voice it's really hard not to go with Mercury though I do like the Geoffe Tate nomination from earlier.

I was also going to say Ann Wilson and Pat Benetar - so much emotion and energy in their voices.

Amy Lee is pretty darn good (plus I just like her sound).
Christina Scabbia is OK, lack the range though (smokin hot).
Limited, but also enjoyable to my ears........Liv Kristine.
I still like Chibi from The Birthday Massacre.....but I don't think she's solid all the time (live vids she's off now and then).
Some of Anneke van Geirsbergen is pleasant.

For a chick voice, I think Anne Wilson is tops. What f'n power.

Anne Wilson had power, but Grace Slick redefined the role of vocalist. And particularly so for females.

Robert Plant is likely the most accomplished vocalist on the planet.

Not bad vocalists, but are they "rock" as requested in the OP?

Pop rock? Indie Rock?

Female - Pat Benatar

Male - has everyone forgotten about Elvis?? What about Art Garfunkel? Paul Rodgers is pretty good too.
