From the neighborhood where I grew up:

Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods used to practice in a farmhouse just through the woods behind our house. They actually were quite good. Billie, don't be a Hero was complete dreck, and I never heard it played. Mom hated them and used to call the police on them at every opportunity.

Here's another local 1-hit wonder

Another old one. I can't post it over here from You Tube for some reason, so if anyone's able, that would be great.

"San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" is an American pop music song, written by John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, and sung by Scott McKenzie. 1967 and one of the best-selling singles of the 1960s in the world.

You are correct, forgot about that one, but haven't heard it on the radio in at least 20 years.

Isn’t “great” and “one hit wonder” an oxymoron?
