Today's word of the day. Try to use it in a sentence.
Wiseacre: one who pretends to knowledge or cleverness; especially : smart aleck
James Pepper: There's no law west of Dodge and no God west of the Pecos. Right, Mr. Chisum? John Chisum: Wrong, Mr. Pepper. Because no matter where people go, sooner or later there's the law. And sooner or later they find God's already been there.

Paddler, the wiseacre, is a dickweed.

Wiseacre is a term that reminds me of watching old Jackie Gleason "Honeymooners" episodes when he sometimes refers to someone as a "wisenheimer". In the context of the OP's definition it's pretty much synonymous.

It's a wiseacre that yields two hundred bushels of corn with no fertilizer. Well played! Yeah, but how much hemp could it grow? You know, like for canvas tents and paper? Geno PS, I have been many times accused of being a wiseacre. PPS or worse.

It's a wiseacre that yields two hundred bushels of corn with no fertilizer. An even wiser wiseacre would know how to plant and harvest itself? Geno

Once upon a time, there were little three acres, the first little acre built his house of straw, the second acre built his house of sticks, but the wiseacre built his house with bricks.

If you're shopping residential real estate in Floriduh you can buy coastal property which is within the reach of tropical storm surge. Or you can look for idyllic sites at higher elevation. The former are known by locals as dumassacres and the latter as wiseacres.

Today's word of the day:
Hoopla: excited commotion : to-do, boisterous, jovial commotion or excitement or exaggerated or sensational promotion or publicity : ballyhoo.
The challenge, use it in a sentence today.
Example: Many campfire members have grown tired of all the hoopla about winning the Nigerian lottery.
James Pepper: There's no law west of Dodge and no God west of the Pecos. Right, Mr. Chisum? John Chisum: Wrong, Mr. Pepper. Because no matter where people go, sooner or later there's the law. And sooner or later they find God's already been there.
