Never felt the need to consume cellular sewage which is processed as poison by my body.

21 years for me, I drank a lot! I can now go on a lot of hunts and my gun collection has grown immensely! I don't miss it at all.

I’ve not drank any alcohol since 1991. Don’t miss it a bit.

Beware of thieves, scammers and dishonest members on the "Fire" classifieds. Ya there is a thief here too. Whatever!!

They're all around the CampFire and everywhere.

I can take it or leave it, but I do enjoy it. I used to swear it off for a couple days at a time when I was younger. Haven't felt like crap after a night of drinking in a decade.

Some people have a drinking problem . I told a friend of mine " you have a drinking problem , the problem is when you drink you do stupid things " .
I can have a few drinks if i want and not get in a fight , not get arrested ,not wreck my vehicle ect.

I have a few beers or a mixed drink if I want and can enjoy it unlike an alcoholic that drinks until he passes out .

I would guess over 20 years for me, don't miss it a bit. "I would not put a thief in my mouth, to steal my brains"

But, for those who want to imbibe, knock yourself out, guys. I hope it does not destroy you or others in your circles.

used to hunt deer with a guy, along with his brothers, few friends, father when he was alive. They would be up early, into the woods, back to the cabin around 11:30. My bud and his brother especially would start boozin right away, eat, then 'nap' until about 3:00. Then rush around to get back into the woods for an hour or so of daylight. Got tired of that sh*t

I knew a group of guys that most often each brought their 1/2 pint of Crown Royal and 2 cokes with them to drink on their afternoon deer hunts. A few of them are still around. Their sons now do the same thing carrying on the ‘tradition ‘.

Crazy folks.

lololol

Following the logic of some, I can afford a lot of things because I don't tithe even the minimum 10%. Guess that makes me better than the guys that waste their money on it. I knew I had something I could look down my nose about!

I swore off diet sodas & milk in 2005. I lost 35 lbs & ALL of my allergies went away. It’s been water & tea since.

Never had any desire for alcohol.

You asked the question. You got honest answers. Maybe not the ones you wanted but they’ll do for what you asked.
Good luck.

these guys were violators, too, whenever it suited them. Then i saw a pic on FB last year of my bud's kid, with his 'first turkey'. He was kneeling on the ground, the bird next to him, but mostly obscured. Seemed odd, until i realized it was a hen, not legal in the Spring

Heh.

The ones I was speaking of belong to a very high dollar lease, exclusive type. Waiting list to join and typically father to son, grandson membership. They like their booze. I hunted with them once as a guest. Once was enough for this coonass.

Triggernosis;
Good evening to you sir, I hope that this finds you well and warm tonight as we near the end of Valentine's Day .

As far as I can ascertain, there was a lot of alcoholism on my father's side of the family and I've come to believe that was part of the reason I had a near instant love for the taste of hard liquor - whiskey/whisky in particular.

After a relatively short stretch as what I would term "weekend binge drinking", I quit drinking and smoking cold turkey within a couple months.

Not too long after that I received word that my best buddy growing up had died in an alcohol related crash - that absolutely cemented my resolve to remain sober - I guess that was '81.

While I'm not a teetotaler now, I was dry for 9 years after '81 and now have very strict rules of engagement between me and alcohol - which I still very much love the taste of.

As a wee bit of an aside, I had a bit of a health issue two years ago where I was instructed by the specialist to stop alcohol and coffee. Honestly I had no issues stopping the alcohol, but used to dream about having a coffee.... laugh

Along the way through some changes in lifestyle and some herbal stuff I detest I've been able to resume coffee in moderation as well as the occasional drink, so coffee is no longer the subject of my dream time. wink

Honestly I don't relate any of this to attempt to sway your thoughts or anyone else's on the matter, simply to answer as honestly as I'm able to.

Good luck with your decision whichever way you decide and all the best to you as we head into spring.

Dwayne

Dwayne, my problem is I love beer/booze and still manage to go to work everyday regardless.

Other than potential long term health issues I see no reason to quit.

No kids.

Wife don't give a chit.

Happy time around here.

Parent's know I drink but not how much....

Get bottles of whiskey for Christmas, etc..

Never at work around machinery, horses maybe.
