Are you in Alaska now, Hugh? Might be interested in the stock blanks you have.

Contact for Savages and rifles in pics 99 calibers I saw 22 Hipower, 32-40, 303 kinda neat half octagon Crescent Butt Plate rifle is in 32-40 Also had lots of Colt SA parts, Lugers Stehr Manclicher and a Win 70 early in 22 Hornet looked original. Rumor has it that a lot of the Savage parts went to Oregon to some guy named Roy!! Does the 99 E in 303 look correct short barrel and dull blue on recv. ? Kurt

That 99E looks like an early 99H. If it's an E someone not only D&T'd it but ground the cheek pieces and the scnable off. Good choice of book. Was it for sale too?

I think that "99E" has an after market buttstock. Maybe just cut stock.. but I'd guess aftermarket. Looks like the barrel was cut also.
He'll be hauling those around for quite a while, I think.

The half octagon is a Savage 1899C. Looks like it's been sanded and refinished, so while it's cool.. it also has no real collector value.
The 1899A had a 26" round barrel and crescent buttplate as standard, the 1899B had an octagon barrel, the 1899C had a half-round/half-octagon barrel. The 1899B and 1899C were made up to WWI.

I think I know who you're talking about. Their dad was a member here, RClark, or something similar??? You guys would remember him I'm sure. I bought some of their dads guns, barrels, parts, and lots of ammo and reloading supplies. He's the one that had that 35-30/30 with the silver finish. He posted a photo of it with a deer he killed with it.
*Just read the whole thread, you guys got it. I bought the 284 double diamond 99DL in the photo. A hard one to find.
