Wow! Colorado governor will sign bill aimed at bypassing Electoral College

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) will sign a measure to award his state’s electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote, moving a countrywide coalition one step closer to circumventing the Electoral College.

In an interview Sunday, Polis called the Electoral College an “undemocratic relic” of the nation’s past, one he wants to see relegated to the dustbin of history.

“I’ve long supported electing the president by who gets the most votes,” Polis told The Hill. “It’s a way to move towards direct election of the president.”

Colorado will become the 12th state to join the national popular vote interstate compact. Those 12 states and the District of Columbia, which has also passed a popular-vote bill, account for 181 electoral votes, just under 90 shy of the 270 votes a presidential candidate needs to win the White House.

The compact will not go into effect until the coalition includes states that add up to 270 electoral votes or more. Once it does go into effect, states that are part of the coalition would award their electoral votes en masse to the candidate who wins the national popular vote.

The democrats never quit. Persistence is their mantra. It’s working and our Congress fiddles while Rome burns.

I intend to research the validity of this. And we'll boycott that sh thole of a state if this is true. To state that the EC system is a 'relic' disenfranchises smaller states like ours here in Idaho.

We'll not be stepping foot in Colorado, and we'll be urging everyone else we know to do the same.

I can't help but think that in some of the super-majority Dem states that the Republican vote is depressed to some extent.

Not much point in going to vote when you're just wasting time.

Assuming they ever reach the number of states needed for it to take effect this might actually motivate some of them to go ahead and vote. Maybe I'm being to optimistic, but I could see this biting the Dems in rear.

What we’re seeing is the exercising of States Rights that more than a few here tend to champion.
Funny that only democrat controlled states exercise States Rights.

I grew up in Northern California, a very small, logging, ranching community. Seeing what they did to that area with all the dope growers, I agree with you Gunner.

You have it right Colorado voters do not have a vote in electing the president any more. Once it is signed the electoral votes (all 8 of them) goes to whom ever has the most popular votes nationally, Democrats now run and control Colorado for the first time they have to house, senate, and governor. They have proceeded to destroy the state. Red flag laws, crap any where you want, Denver is sanctuary city, limit magazine size to 15 rounds, and they have run out several gun companies out of state.

The tenth amendment does not supersede other parts of the bill of rights. The whole point of the fed.goobermint was to protect the rights of all citizens, including the electoral college from tyrannical laws like this. This bill is unconstitutional on the face of it, the question will be if scotus will do its job and tell guv polis to stuff it.

The left, democrats, liberals, communist, socialist, and islamites they want power and control of the people. They hate Americans, the Constitution, and the USA. They are enemies and traitors. Their agendas do not allow the Constitution to exist. There is no place in the Constitution or the USA for sharia law. They believe in the normalization of unethical and immoral behavior. We do not need any one in the government who is not supporting Americans, state and federal government. The left, democrats, liberals, communist, and socialist are morally wrong. Their ideas for life are immoral. They do not care about women, children, and minorities. They do not represent the people from their states which elected them. They want overthrow the rights given to the American people by the constitution by changing, rewriting, or the destruction of the Constitution. Democrats cater to our enemies by voting for and providing them aid and comfort through sanctuary policies funded by US citizen tax dollars, refuses to protect American people by refusing to fund our border wall, and leave our borders open and unsafe. They using tax payer money feed, clothe, educate, house, and free medical care. Plus illegal immigrants are allowed to travel anywhere in the USA freely. Most have no vaccinations against any diseases. They allow possible health problems to spread. Not to mention the laws they break, people they injury, or people they kill.

Broomd,

It's absolutely true, and yes, a bad day for The Republic.

I've got a spot in the green timber just out of Meeker up on Ellison mountain that will all but guarantee me a bull elk every year, because of their ever failing and getting worse politics, I haven't bought an elk or mule deer tag in Colo since 2001. crazy I really miss that place too.

So the number of states CA has ruined is up to 12?
And that doesn't include all the states not on that list of twelve? Wow
