Who is shooting a 327? Thoughts on it? Is it worth it or would you not bother with it again?

Seems ammo and components are pretty well available and reasonable.

I have one of the 8 shot Blackhawks in 327 magnum & it has became my favorite summer time packing gun for ground squirrels, rock chucks, badgers, etc. Very flat, accurate & nasty with either a 113 gr HP or the 135 gr Ferminator HP. I also had one in an SP101 & a Buckeye with a rechambered 32 mag cylinder, they will take heavy loads!!

I have a SP 101 in 327. It’s accurate and flat shooting. I also like shooting the shorter 32’s through it, it gives you lots of options. The only negative is the 327 is loud. Shot a coyote once with out ear protection. I won’t do that again.

I had a Ruger. Seemed to be an answer to problem that never was. A 357 mag that uses 38 P with 125 gr bullets will do the same job,and a 32-20 will sure work for lighter small game stuff/

Many years ago I used a 32 -20 for smaller eastern whitetails.

The thing I didn't like about mine was the harsh report of it. Pretty good crack to it .Same experience as Region 6

A lot of these rounds are what gun and ammo mfgr 's come up with to entice the public to try something new.Strickly marketing ploy.They would go broke keeping the same old ones.

I'm on my third Single Seven. The first 2 were stainless, 7-1/2 and 4-5/8. This one is blued, 4-5/8. I waffled hard between it and a 5.5" stainless gun. I might add the stainless gun later.

I like .32 caliber revolvers, especially .32 mag and .327 federal. They're niche guns but the niche is "fun." The cylinders on the 2 SS guns were a bit rough. Factory loads and max handloads were not merely sticky, they were downright stiff, extracting. My favorite load used Win 296 and the 100 grain XTP. Accuracy was better and extraction was a lot better when I dropped from the max of 13.2 down to 12.5 grains.

.327s are loud. They are pretty nearly just a rimmed .30C pressure-wise and we've all read how loud the Blackhawks in .30C are reputed to be.

I have a bit more work to do on the new blued .327 before it goes out. I've already done a trigger job w/ a Wolff spring kit plus smoothing the sear and reducing engagement a bit. Now I need to change the sights. I don't shoot as well with a bead and V notch as I do post and square notch so Ruger is sending me a set of sights for the stainless 4-5/8" gun to install on my blue gun. Should be perfect .. for me.

I have a couple of Lipsey's Rugers and love em both.
Especially the Flat Top Blackhawk Bisley in 44 Special that I recently bought.
It's rapidly becoming the favorite in my humble collection of handguns.

The same gun is also available in 44 special except it has a non-fluted cylinder, which I think looks uber +P. I'm kinda torn between the two, but have wanted a 327 Fed for a while.

I need to move a couple others to make room. Anybody interested in a New Model 45 Colt 5 1/2 blued? .

Love my little Ruger Single Seven single action revolver in .327 Fed. Mag !!! Great little 22 sized gun frame in a REAL caliber.

I just wished Ruger would hurry a get off their ass and produce the LCRx revolver in that caliber WITH the 3” bbl & adj. sights !!!
It would be, IMO, the perfect little “kit gun” or camp gun !

I have a single seven, I suggest both ear plugs and muffs. It is LOUD!

We have 3 currently, a original Ruger GP100 4.2", an 8-shot Blackhawk, and a Henry rifle. If you handload, it is one of the most versatile firearms available. You can shoot 32 S&W short or long, H&R 32 magnum, and 327 magnum. The one challenge I see is getting heavier bullets. The smartest move we made was getting bullet molds in 120 and 132 grain. These bullets are very accurate and provide more sectional density for better penetration where that is needed.

Never cared for the .32 H&R very much but being a SpeedFreak when the .327 came out that is my kinda round....

The FA gets 120-135 grain cast bullets, the others 85-95 grain jacketed and cast.

I have several 357 magnums & when I get serious with them, they are loud! I like them but I love these 327's. Shot a doe antelope in Utah last fall with mine using a 135 gr cast HP.

I'd rather have an estwing hammer. The only thing either one is good for is driving nails, but the estwing does a better job at it. I'll take a Smith or Colt in a purposeful caliber.

A Single Seven in 327 is a cool powerful little revolver.
A 357 capable 327 is of no interest.

About like those Super Redhawk 10mm's.

I have wanted to shoot a revolver appropriately sized to the 30 carbine since I pulled the trigger on a blackhawk in 357 back in 1978.

But no one built anything appropriately scaled to the cartridge. What I wanted was a Smith 632, or an SP 101, or a single six. I would have loved the LCR in a 30 carbine, or hell even a Charter Patriot.


But the only models I ever saw were the AMT automag, which my fat stubby fingers could not reach around the grip to pull the trigger, or the blackhawk which is appropriately sized to the 44 mag.

Enter the 327 mag (a rimmed cartridge actually designed for a revolver) and the SP 101, a perfect match. But I had to wait a few years to get the 4 inch I really wanted. And I got one of the first 500 single sevens produced in 4 5/8 inch. Again, a revolver perfectly scaled to the cartridge.

I fondled a GP 100 a bit in the LGS the other day. But damn, if I am going to carry a gun that size, I might as well be stoking it with heavy 357 loads. Same story with the blackhawk.

Both the single seven and SP 101 are comfortable to shoot with my heaviest handloads consisting of 115 gr gold dots or 120 gr cast with maximum charges of H110. I also am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the three inch LCRx in 327. That will be my next purchase.

I do not shoot the alternative shorter cartridges in my guns. Instead, I load light charges of fast powder behind 78 gr cast or 85 gr JHP for targets or training kids. A 78 gr lasercast over 3 gr of Titegroup shoots about like a 22 mag from a revolver.

I have a Single Seven, 5 1/2 stainless. It is a fun gun to shoot and tinker with. Full power 327 loads are loud. Like ear plugs and muffs loud. Just started tinkering with cast loads over Universal. I worked some up and chrono'd them last week, just gotta get out and see how they do accuracy wise. 100 grain at 900 ought to be a fun plinking load.

I like it, great gun for hiking down here along the border. Light weight, plenty of ooomph. Figure if I miss, muzzle blast ought to run whoever, off.
