On March 2, Breitbart News reported that 21 of New Mexico’s 33 counties had declared themselves “Second Amendment Sanctuaries,” to indicate they would not be enforcing the gun control. Moreover, on February 10, Breitbart News reported that 29 of New Mexico’s 33 sheriffs signed a statement against the gun control. And the New Mexico Sheriff’s Association also made clear it planned to sue the state if the new gun control was enacted.
Grisham ignored the sheriffs’ concerns, tweeting, “A few law enforcement officers in this state have been making noise about how they won’t enforce gun safety measures because they don’t like them. That’s not how laws work, of course, and it’s not how oaths of office work either.” Unconstitutional. Unenforceable.

The Wall Street Journal today had an article that said that 33 of New Mexico's 36 county sheriffs said they would not enforce it. There are 33 counties in New Mexico. Yup, I think it was more like 26 out of the 33. I will be moving to NM in June....unfortunately to SF County. Looks like I will need to ratchet up my pro-2A activities a bit once we're settled in.
The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.

Sheriffs say one thing, but they are elected & try to go with the citizen/voter when possible.
Does NM have a State Police force? If so they take orders from the capitol. The citizen//voter gets their balls busted.
Sheriffs cruiser pulls in my drive I probably wouldn't set down my beer. SP cruiser busting down my drive is another animal, a lots bigger one.

But in any county there, they are highly outnumbered by Sheriff's Dept personnel. That attention whore governor NM has now talks a big game. i allus thought of new mexico as a rural, hunting man's state. guess i was wrong. Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Las Cruces speak for the entire state politically. Out of those cities, it is as you say.
