I'm off today and the weather's supposed to be nice, so it's time to start working on the old boat. She's getting a new bilge pump, livewell rebuild,(aeration system) and some work on the flooring. Today's project will be tearing the seats out and seeing if I can get the floor lifted up to get under it for an inspection.

If you're going to do all that....plan on not fishing this year. Once you pull the floor up, there's no goin back. Don't ask...

oh it's not that bad, but you're right Tom once it's up there is no going back. I did a whole restoration in a month just working on the weekends. I found a lot of awesome info here www.tinboats.net and have restored a few boats (look under the same handle for a couple of mine that might be on there) the biggest thing is don't plan on an hour or two here and there, try to block off entire days like 3-4 saturdays in a row if possible. Oh, and it will go 3x the budget you think it will. Don't waste your money on marine grade plywood, use regular and seal it with epoxy, I use the fiberglass kind and do two coats. that will seal any plywood and be a permanent fix (remember to predrill ALL holes before sealing) also run conduit for wiring so when you swap out electronics or want to add lighting you can fish the wires bow to stern easier. it's a lot of fun, I'm planning on redoing my floor on the 99 19' Fisher Avenger I have. I'll be using tuff coat on the floor and hopefully be custom making new consoles if time allows, maybe next year though. feel free to ask any questions you might have. it is a ton of fun! and you'll learn new swear words you never thought possible .

I'm afraid I do not have any boat projects, even if I could work on them. I will agree, once you get started, don't plan on going fishing any time soon. Some good friends were nice enough to go check on my cabin & test the ice last weekend. Picture looks pretty much like all the rest. 3 feet of snow & lots of good ice but fishing was slow.

Since this originally started on the subject of deer camp. I recently came across this pic. This was my first deer, probably 1976. It's a 6 point although you really can't tell by the pic. I am the young guy although I am older now than Dad was back then. It was also the first deer taken at this camp. A lakeside cabin my parents bought the year before. Many great memories of that place.

Ryan nailed it. It’s not a few hour job but not hard to do. It just takes some time to do it right. I actually had fun doing it and learned everything there is to know about my boat.
It makes it tough to put a price on it when selling it. What’s your sweat and blood worth? Well...nothing to the guy buying it. Lol.

Camp looks good Jim. I can't believe the snow hasn't slid off the roof. must be shingled roof?
Great old deer hunting photo too.

If you're going to do all that....plan on not fishing this year. Once you pull the floor up, there's no goin back. Don't ask... I was able to lift the floor boards out. So I'll be anchoring the seat bases to the decking. The guy I bought it off of replaced the floor with particle board. I just don't want to put the time or money into it. I'm going to seal the flooring as best as I can, put some Styrofoam down to replace what the mice have chewed up, and close it back up with the pedestals anchored to the floor with fender washers and nuts and bolts. Far from perfect, I know, but I'll be selling it next spring. I'll tell the prospective owners about the flooring issues.

Apparently we don't have "room" for two boats. I beg to differ but you have to pick your battles I guess. So the alumacraft is going up for sale.

Yes, the roof is shingled but the neighbors is steel and still had snow on it also. I suspect it will be coming off soon if it hasn't already. I have a pretty interesting story about when I (we) replaced the original roof, will share that sometime if I can find the pic. It was a disaster in the making.
Love Dad's old hunting clothes, every pic of him as long as I can remember looked exactly like that. I think this was a year or two before orange became mandatory.
