Looking for thoughts on best mcmillan stock for a 6.5 creed build. M70 action, bartlein - prob 2b.

Supergrade, sako classic inlet for m70k, HTG?

Purpose is accurate hunting rifle I will be walking/stalking with - prob 22/23" barrel.

thanks

What kind of stock shape are you used to? What position will your shots mainly be? 9 out of 10 times my shots are in the offhand position, and maybe at a moving animal. A nice light well balanced and properly fitting stock always gets my nod. For these reasons, I chose the hunters compact. Now if you would have said rifle resting on your pack and you shooting from the prone or sitting position, then maybe a heavier straighter gripped stock might work better. If you are walking/stalking and not shooting from a rested position, my vote is hunters compact:

I use the Compact Hunter's (EDGE fill), Legend, and would definitely try the Sako Classic on a 70. I have a couple of them on my Tikka's and dig them as well.

I didn't know they inletted 70's for them.. I may call and change my recent order.. They aren't too bad either at 26 ounces for last few I got for the Tikka's. Any one have pictures what they look like on a P64 Featherweight?

McMillan charges a "Custom" extra for the Sako. Last one I had done was like $45 extra

thanks guys, used to an echols stock have several builds on them, but want something a bit scaled down. Most of the shooting will be offhand or off sticks or supported position.

Want a high enough comb but don't want the hunter model with raised cheek piece. Sounds like sako classic might be the call?

There's a few threads here on the "bridges" pattern McMillan. You have to order it through Mr Bridges and there is a $100 upcharge. It is a scaled down echols in many respects.

Going another direction, manners new hunting stock looks interesting but might only be for the 700 platform.
