Yep I loved ol' Delbert's music. HanK Thompson and the Brazos Valley Boys was great and he had a mean western swing. Actually, most all of the older country music was honky tonk music. George Jones was one of the best of that. I loved his old song, "She's a Barmaid in the Honky Tonk Down Stairs."

Thursday evenings you can listen to a show called Honky Tonk Happy Hour on Marfa Public radio (which you can stream online). The host, David Branch, plays great honky tonk music, most of it off of records. It is one of the few shows, tv or radio, that I try and schedule around.

I always liked Red ! Went to a ton of Rodeo dances he performed at back in the good ole days. He’s a good guy, great Cowboy Poet, and does a lot of charity work too.

Never can post YouTube videos correctly, but Asleep At The Wheel has some pretty good Honkey Tonk Music!

Ray Benson! Nice Jewish boy from Philadelphia, Neal! Used to set at the bar with us at the Broken Spoke back in the day. Geez that was over 40’years ago. Wasn’t as famous then. Really nice fellow!

In those days Neal it was Asleep at the Wheel, Leon Raush ( who sang with BW some), Alvin Crow, Johnny Gimble ( another BW veteran), and old Adoph Hofner would play a lot of BW’s stuff!
