After 60+ years you tend to run out of superlatives and just start repeating yourself on how great they are. Editors are more interested in paying for articles that haven't been done over and over.
They tried to kill the 220 Swift years ago, it just won't die, think their might be a reason for that.
I think every coyote hunter worth his salt has at least one 22-250 stashed away somewhere, I have two and barrels to put together a couple more.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Unless you are talking a 6-7 twist using long heavy bullets, you will get no help here. Gun writers and gun rags couldn’t give a sh*t less about anything else as it’s only profitable to put out 300,000 articles on the virtues of long heavy bullets in fast twist barrels. So take that perfectly good 22.250 or Swift and have it rebarreled and use that old slow twist piece of sh*t and use it for a tomato stake. 😃

Back in the 80’s I was hot for a 220 Swift, but nobody made them. Ruger had made them in the 70’s, in the 77V. I found one and have been shooting it ever since. And rifles in the caliber are easier to find than they were back then. Ammo is for sale at the local country feed store.

I used the 220 swift extensively for coyote hunting. And I use the 22-250 also. I shoot 50 grain ballistic tips in both and use slower twist barrels. With proper bullet placement, they’re pretty much bang flop cartridges. I also had a custom 22-250 made for PDs this spring. It will also shoot 50 grain bullets in a slower twist barrel.

The very first varmint rifle I ever bought was a Winchester Heavy Varmint 220 Swift, second was a Sako L579 22-250. both are still as awesome today as they were decades ago...........and they don't say Creedmoor on them anywhere !!!!!!!!!!!
Oh sure I have newer faster twisted 22 Cal's also, but nothing wrong with the old stuff.

Might be right, but I haven’t bought a factory round other than 22LR or shotgun in 35 years. Fact is I have both calibers and quite a few more that have never seen a factory round.

Pretty much the same here......…… My Swift has never eaten a factory load in its life. When I buy a centerfire, I buy dies at the same time if I don't already have them. A lot of the stuff I shoot, either the factory stuff would break me or it is simply not available any longer. Not so with the Swift......…..it's both available and affordable. But it's the principle.

I remember the time I was working a lot of overtime and a chance came up to go prairie dog hunting. I complained to my dad that I didn't have time to load up much ammo. His reply "Why don't you buy factory ammo?" I had never considered it. I called Gopher shooters supply and asked how many cases of 220 Swift ammo they had. The lady laughed and said you don't have to take all of it. It was Hornady Frontier and it shot just as good as my handloads. I am still on the original barrel of my Ruger #1 V 220 Swift. Lots of wives tales about the rifle and the cartridge. I just laugh and shoot.
I like to do my hunting BEFORE I pull the trigger! There is only one kind of dead, but there are many different kinds of wounded.
