For years I've loaded 130 gr. nosler partitions over 60 gr. of H450 powder to get about 3070 fps from my M70 fwt 270. It has worked fine on antelope, deer, and elk, but the powder is discontinued and my supply is running low. Any suggestions as to what current powder will work equally well? Thanks.

I have had my best luck with 59.5 grains of H4831SC, a 130 grain Hornady Interlock SP (Cat #2730), WIN WLR primers in a Frontier case in my M70FW.
My second best load is 59.0 grains of H4831SC, a 130 grain Nosler BT, and FED 210 primers in a Frontier case (same gun).
My 270 WIN FW is tight chambered (custom barrel) and a little less powder gives me max loads than the typical 60 grains usually recommended for this combo. This rifle shoots every load faster than the same load shot in my old Ruger M77 .270 WIN (Winchester Supreme factory loaded 130 grain Ballistic Silvertip chronographed 2905 fps out of the 22" barreled Ruger and 2993 fps in the custom M70 - shot one after the other, same set up).

H4895 works just fine in one of my 270s.Might try IMR4064 as well. Both are non traditional powders for most shooters but they are hard to beat in the accuracy department.I buy H4895 in the eight pound jugs for my 270 silhouette gun good velocity and outstanding accuracy out to 500 meters. It also meters like it came from heaven.

I had a Savage that gave impressive groups and 3200 fps with 130's and Magpro.

I settled on IMR 4350 nearly 30 yrs ago with both 110 and 130 gr. bullets. I've tried some of the 4831SC but my gun doesn't seem to like it.

Thanks for the info guys. I tried WMR (also discontinued) because I prefer ball powders for measuring charges, but it seems too slow. Seems like all good slow burning powders get dropped. Win 785, WMR, H450 etc. Guess I'll try H4831SC, at least the sticks are smaller than reg. H4831.

Try Ramshot Hunter for the 130g loads if you like the ball powders, measures well and is a good choice for the 130g bullets. 57-58g should be about perfect.
