Solid gun but - bore and finish are poor. No rust though

Ears have been cleanly removed. Sits in a new dark red stained sporter stock probably birch. No buttpad.
Original trigger. No sights. Original bolt. Not D&T.

Would make a really nice big bore rifle with a rebore. 35 Whelen springs to mind.

I'm thinking $300 is fair for both parties.

Am I off?

Thanks

I had listed a P-14 rebarreled to .300 Win. mag. with sporter stock, Timney trigger, drilled/tapped with bases, c*ck on open, bolt handle straightened, etc. for $400 and got one query. Hope yours does better. They used to be prized for making big bores, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Honestly, in today's market, you are high. Some may disagree, but you can find nice ones like Joe's for just a little more. Somewhat depends on Manufacturer...Some people like Winchesters. IMO Current value of what you have, considering cost of shipping and transfer, is about half that, or perhaps a tad more. Sorry.

That's OK. Just trying to get a realistic take on what its worth.
Whatever it is, it is.

I think I'm stuck in the days joe6555 mentioned.
Still, a very good action for a project. Hope someone is looking for one - it will be up for sale soon.

If somebody wants a simple rebore- you’re probably OK on starting price.

D&T on the receiver is a cost the new buyer has to add in - finding a smith that still knows 1917s is a task, IMHO.

If rebarreling - you’re in this one about what a vanilla 700 action would already cost tapped.

If they want change the cock on close, more cost...that somebody has want to take on.

Thanks AH64guy.
Looking to thin down and I figure this is a nice donor for. Someone to rebore.
Its not heavy in the hand the way a military version is, and I could definitely see it as a Whelen or 338-06.
I think it will take H&H length cartridges too with bolt face work.
Ill be sure to make the price attractive once I have pics.

I sold "AH64guy" 3 years ago a basically for the action a 1917 Winchester action and barrel for $150.00. The bore was black as coal, action in factory original condition. I believe AH64guy re-built the action back to an factory spec 1917 rifle.
