Stowaway raccoon is forced off a boat twenty miles at sea and presumably drowns. At least it is a lawyer getting the heat, but I'd cap any raccoon found on my boat whether on land or sea. I'm sure the many bleeding hearts crying animal cruelty will run over one on the way home from the bar this summer...but that's OK. No thinking person would ever want a raccoon on their boat. But no thinking person would post the deed on the 'net.
I would have plugged the vermin or shoved it overboard - whichever was most convenient at the time - poured a drink, and called it a day. Any video evidence would have been deleted immediately - or also thrown overboard. The outcry from the idiots was predictable as sunrise. No way would I give that animal a free 20 mile ride to shore.

I would have tested its water treading/long distance swimming abilities also. We would not have been sharing the boat all the way back to shore. I don't understand peoples desires to make videos of every aspect of their lifes and then posting them.

20 miles out from shore = international waters. How could any Florida state agency have any authority to do anything to him?

State waters end three miles off the coast on the Atlantic side and nine miles off on the gulf side. It happened in federal waters so I don’t think Florida has any jurisdiction.
