i need to shoot the 500 S&W thats been sitting in the safe for 12-13 years and has never been shot. At a campout in Kodiak a few years ago, one guy had a new .500 S&W, never fired. I jumped at the chance to be first/ recoil was pretty stout but not overwhelming. I think it was a 6 inch barrel. The few .500 S&W's I've shot in Smith guns don't have much muzzle rise, most of the recoil is pretty much straight back. Even the BFR in .500 S&W has a brake. I'm not a fan of the .500 S&W round.
