Since I have learned that cast bullets are the pits for hunting what do the Pundits say is the best monometal bullet one can purchase for the 44 Magnum, Lehigh Defense or Cutting Edge?
Loading data does not abound for these projectiles so where does one look for it. I have looked at the data Lehigh Defense has for the 44 Magnum and it is sparse.
I dont want any of the watered down 44 Magnum data like has been done to the 44 Magnum since the early 1970's. It has been turned into a mere shell of what it used to be. The Lehigh Defense 265 Grain WFN bullet is longer than the Hornady 300 grain XTP so where does that lead the experienced ones as to data?
I know that the 44 magnum is just an "also ran" in the marathon race of hunting handguns as far as a hunting handgun goes, so I already have conceded on that.

Cast don’t suck for hunting, they are not as good as monolithic bullets on really large game. I’ve used both CEB and LeHigh solids on really big animals and I prefer the LeHigh for the larger meplat. The CEB though will go very deep.

if a 310 grain lee, cast 44 mag bullet loaded over 21 grains of h110 powder is not proving lethal,
the fault lies in your shot placement or knowledge of the games anatomy
after using that 300 grain 44 or a similar lyman hard cast gas check, bullet for well over 25 years its obviously effective

You can kill deer with pretty much anything. The monolithic solids come into their own on big game - really big game. Unless really big game is on the menu, I wouldn’t spend the money. But that’s just me.

On this thread i am not going to spar, jab or engage in the childish behavior that the majority like to hurl at me. My main goal was to gleen some load data on monometal bullets.
None of you really know or not know what i do or don't do.
If you have any legit data okay. If you don't okay, too.
Just asking is all.

I have shot a few boxes of Cutting Edge, Raptors and solids out of 44 mag, 357mag and 45 colt. I could not find much loading data either but ended up going with my standard powder charges that I would use with cast lead bullets of same weight. No problems here. I am a fan of cast for handguns, but had the good fortune to be gifted a pretty good stash of Cutting Edge products so I have been shooting them some. Like the idea of the Raptors and the big ass petals that come off shortly after impact whilst the rest of the bullet continues on it's way. But I have not shot so much as a whitetail doe with one so can't give a great first hand field report on them. I have a feeling that they will preform pretty well as advertised.

I shot a small pig with the CEB in 45 ACP and was very disappointed in the penetration and damage. I could tell that the pedals did much of anything other than break off.

While I didnt specify what type of Monometal bullets I was talking about, the SOLIDS, not the expanding bullets that both companies produce.

Sorry for the confusion.

The CEB Raptor does not expand the petals are designed to break off

Don't the petals expand outwardly to break off? I am now throughly confused. They could collapse on themselves I guess and not expand and still break off.
