For sale or trade: Leupold Pioneer 4x fine crosshair with rings and bases. This scope has seen and harvested polar bear, brown bear, black bear, moose, caribou, and who knows what else over the many years it served in the hands of my grandfather's guide in Alaska, and it was even between me and my first buck. The gun it came off of is a Mauser action Weatherby, so I assume that's a large ring Mauser, but I'm not sure if that's exactly correct or what else the bases may fit (for sure this Weatherby is a Mauser pattern and not a MKV - Leupold can tell you for sure what they fit). Leupold rebuilt this scope in 2003 and it has been on a shelf in my basement ever since. This would look fine on any vintage rifle and would lend considerable pedigree to any fine gun.
$150 OBO, or trade towards a Leupold VX-iii/Mark 4 or better 4.5-14x40, or VX5HD 2-10 or 3-15. I'm also interested in early model 66s or 629s and am a sucker for stainless laminate Model 7s. I am posting three more scopes (Burris E1 3-9, Burris 4.5-14 FFII, Burris MTAC 1-4) under separate posts that can be combined for sale or trade.

You will see the bases/rings in the photos covered in grease that easily wipes off. There is some finish wear to the edges of the rings but no rust and the bases function normally. Character marks on the scope are well represented in the photos, but look worse than they really are, and the marks tell their own stories of what this scope has seen and done. The glass is perfect, and actually much better than many scopes for sale now: the optics have superb clarity, color, and brightness.
