You should start with a Musk Ox on the wall.

There is a gent who posts mainly on the Savage Collectors board who uses the handle Loggah. An avid and knowledgeable collector, a few years back he built a dandy of a gun room/vault which was discussed with a fair amount of detail. You could likely find the posts and maybe contact him for lessons learned and recommendations.

I sure hope all you ham heads that post pics on this thread have your Exif data disabled. What does that mean? Are they watchin ya? I sure hope all you ham heads that post pics on this thread have your Exif data disabled. What does that mean? Are they watchin ya? Its a handy tool that allows me to strip lat/long coords from images. I figured out where a few guys were hunting arrowheads on another forum I visit. 😄 Not that I would drive two states away to walk some guy's field, but it sure made a believer out of him when I sent him a .png map of his favorite spot down to the n'th acre.

If I were building a house or remodeling, I'd reinforce the walls of an existing room or build a room out of reinforced concrete, and install a commercial vault door. This would turn the entire room into a gun safe. Some secure doors look like regular ones at first glance. The other alternative is build a smaller vault into the house in a hidden area with a vault door, like behind a false wall in the back of a closet. I knew a guy built a sunken a safe into his basement floor (very dry basement), and you couldn't tell because he had a rug and coffee table on top of it.

Passport,
You need to the pictures from "Shotgun World" of the Winchester model 42 collector who has a complete model 42 gun shop in his basement. So well done, the pictures will bring a tear to the eye of a true shot gunner which i know you are.

I really like that sign ! .......... But in the interest of domestic tranquility I probably wouldn't hang one on the gun/reloading room door. Believe it or not.....my dear departed wife made that for me.......but naturally she ignored it.

An island for cleaning rifle barrels is pretty slick. A spot to hang all your cleaning rods close to the island is also nice. A window with a bench to shoot at a 100 yard target makes load development much faster.

I will post pics of the reloading room later

In the process of building a new home and have a room picked out that will be my gun/reloading room. I'll get the size later, should be in the 12 x 18 area though. Cement walls on 3 sides, no windows. Same for me, my room is 12’ x 15’ with one window & 2 closets. I am a 40+ year Warehouseman, so my room has a warehouse flare. Mainly because bullets & ammo are heavy and the racks are quite functional. It is not at all ugly. It is definitely Blue Collar. The overhead weight of the bullet shelf, 8’ long, adds a solid base for my load bench which is the lower shelf. I have two 8’ racks. My gun safe covers the window. Entry is a vault door with electric lockdown. All of that is behind the normal looking, standard bedroom door.
