Hi, i was wondering how often do you guys change bow strings? The one i have has gotten to the point i need to put wax on it almost every time i shoot. Is that dangerous? Any info would be appriciated.

JH,
You need to put wax on your string each time after you shoot on a new string too. Make sure you put the wax on the string only not any part that has been served. A good way to tell if your string is about to go is if it fraying or has some strings that are broke. Look around the cams for tears also. I would replace the string anyway if has been on there for a while. I replace my strings once or twice a year depending on how much I shoot that particular bow.

Wayne,

The wax is to help the string. The serving is there to protect the string when it rolls on the cams, on the idler wheel, and where you hook your release and arrow. Putting wax on these places causes the cams, idler wheel, serving areas to gum up and then you have a place that catches all kinds of dust, etc. The wax can also cause problems if it gets in the cams and clumps up. You could possibly have some malfunctions. I usually just put the wax on the string as often as possible, because as long as you keep the wax rubbed in and you don't use too much you aren't going to cause any problems. Thanks,

Trey
