Via some contorted horse trading I have a PPQ 45 and a 2.0 Shield 45. Both are about new with boxes & accouterments; both run and shoot great. The PPQ is fantastic. The trigger has 2 1/2 pounds of take up, breaks crisply at four pounds with next to no over travel. I can best describe it as a good 1911 trigger with a long take-up. Once you get there, the rest of the break is target pistol sweet. If you think that makes it easy to shoot well, you are correct. Five shots at 50 yards, four inches. The last six from a magazine fired from bullseye stance, about 75 yards. The pistol shoots high so I'll plug in a taller front sight and make it a night sight while I'm at it.

The load was a Bear Creek coated 230 grain flat point with enough W231 to scoot it 850 fps.

I've been sorely tempted to pick up a PPQ 45 for a very long time. I had the PPQ in 9mm, gen 1 (with the Euro mag release) for a few years, but sold it a couple of years ago. Great gun, though. Just didn't like the Euro mag release. The new ones have the American style mag release. Very tempting.
Only thing I wish they'd change is the tactile treatment on the grips. They need to be made to grip better.

Only thing I wish they'd change is the tactile treatment on the grips. They need to be made to grip better. I plugged the 'Large' backstrap in after the first magazine. For me at least, the Large insert makes sight alignment effortless. As to the texture, I've always preferred Gen 2-3 Glocks to any later/rougher texture and I feel the same way about M&Ps. Probably comes from living with a pistol IWB next to the skin, under a tail-out shirt. I guess you could add rubberized Talons. I shot it with healthy reloads, 230 FMJ and 230 grain HST +P. Recoil was not bothersome with any of it once I changed the back strap.

I carry a Shield in 9mm, and I really don't think I need more gun, BUT I was thinking of a PPQ in 45. Maybe even a Shield 2.0 in 45? I see CDNN has them for a good price. So I like OWB carry, and holster / size considerations? Shield is a dream to carry.

Are some of you guys confusing the PPQ and the PPS? PPQ is the double stack pistol, PPS is single stack like a Shield.
