I just found some white buffalo bone grips for my black 1911. Looks really good to me but I’m thinking I might like a smallish flag or eagle or whatever engraved in black on the grips. Looking for an engraver(laser). Anyone know one? I am in Alabama.

Used to be one on this forum. But, it was a while back.

Why not just carve a frigging steer head on them? Like those guys that ruin the looks of good ivory do?

A flag or eagle? seriously? How could you? When naked ladies and punisher skulls are all the rage now?

Bone, ivory, horn, or even good wood, does not have the inherant natural beauty enhanced by adding medallions, commemorative coins, jewels, carving, schrimshaw or 'artwork'. But go ahead. It's all yours to screw up.

JHMO, would not desecrate those grips.

Instead of etching your social security number on the grips, you could use a dremel and put it on the slide.

Tough crowd, but I agree with Huntsman 22, so I guess I’m part of a tough crowd.

His grips, his decision. I believe in having what (I) want, not what others tell me I should want.
Some mornings, it just does not feel worth it to chew through the straps!~

I truly feel sorry for you. For having to suffer looking at those abortions.....
But, I bet those mermaid tiddies feel good in the hand.

I like some tasteful and well done scrimshaw on Ivory. And I kinda get the old time Elmer Keith draw to the steer heads. Problem is I’ve never, not one time, seen a set of steer head stocks where the steer head looked anything like an actual steer. I’d rather have no stocks than have them with some terrible cartoon carved into them.

Having made a bunch of grips that ended up with some incredible scrimshaw on them I can like high quality work... then there is the other stuff...
But scrimshaw turns it into an art piece and not a usable piece as it is just not durable.
Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.

Looks like I am playing to a tough crowd. I actually do love the great bone grips against the black finished gun metal. I only wish this thing was a great deep blue. When it really came down to it I’d probably back down and not mess them up. Thanks guys.

That thing looks more like a mustelid with horns and long ears than it does any sort of bovine.
