Don't know myself, but does this help? Savage 24 owner's manualGun parts/ numerich 2400 exploded viewOn my old .22/.410 there's a latch inside the forend. Grasp the barrels with one hand and the forend near the tip with the other and pull apart. But there are so many variations over the decade. I see for some models they eliminated the relatively expensive latching mechanism and substituted a machine screw (I'm sure you would have noticed that). And of course with the forend off it comes apart like any double shotgun.

Nighthawk. Mod 24 totally different. numerich -no help.
I thought it would be simple, remove fore arm, then break oped the action and lift barrels off. Just that it don't work. fore end comes right off. Then no matter what, the barrels will not come off. Thanks for the reply.

Just for fun try this: Tristar instruction manual for over/under page 5. I don't know the genealogy but the Savage, Stevens, Fox, Valmet, Tristar seem to share a common design.

On mine, very simple. Take down lever under the forearm. Just pull down, remove the foreend, then release the barrel with the swing lever, barrel will come right off. Hope this helps. re
