What are the differences between an 1894 Cowboy like you can get now, and the Limited with octagon barrel? Anything else?
How much is a nice Limited worth?

The Limited was fitted with a 24"bbl., straight stock, no checkering, and smaller, more reasonable forearm size in two versions that I am aware of, the 1/2 round, 1/2 octagon, and the full octagon. About the time Marlin released the 1895 CWB, Davidsons' had a run of pistol grip models in both full and half octagon-don't rightly recall, but I think they were in the 26" length, and might have been checkered. The 24" versions came out about 8 yrs ago, late enough that they featured the 6 land & groove ballard rifling-same with the Davidsons' models. Both LTD versions share all the classic features of Marlins new 336 based 1895, including that wonderful system for removing the bolt and cleaning from the breech. Apparantly, folks who have these limiteds really like em. I've heard stories of exellent accuracy, but can't really help with prices. I missed out on the 24"., and am sorry I did. I think it'd be one heck of a great gun with a Williams foolproof on the receiver.

Lee there were IIR five different limited edetions with different barrel and stock combos. There were both octagon and 1/2 round half octagon models as well as round barrel edetions. None of them had the squared trigger guard like the cowboy. The limiteds were are all just that. Short production runs, not current.

The last one I encountered was on consignment, 24-inch barrel, octagon all the way with a slight taper, straight stock with cut checkering, case color receiver, and tang peep sight, Ballard rifling, for $600.00.

Personally, have never seen a new model-post '72 1895 with factory colour case hardening. The last I recall were the cowboy competition models, and they are fetching close to $800 out here. If its a factory finish, and if the gun is in at least v. good condition, $600 might not be too high. If you have the sn, you can call Marlin and they can give you info regarding production date, options, and finish. Regardless, Marlin switched to ballard rifling some time into the mid '90s if I recall correct. This should place this model at about 10yrs. old. Sounds like a nice gun.

It was really nice, but it's gone. I have to get one soon.
I had to choose between other stuff - a new T3SS for $400 and the nicest M-700 ADL Deluxe I ever saw for $300. It was a tough choice, but I figured I could fine another Marlin for that price easier than the 700 or the T3.
The guy still has a beautiful old Browning Safari in .270 Win and a mint old Salko .222, both for just under a $1,000.

I have a Davidson's LTD II, 24" octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, checkerd pistol grip stock. I have a Lyman 66 sight on it and it is a keeper. Sighted in 2 inches high at 100 yards, cloverleafs at 50, 1 to 1 1/2 at a 100. Basically a dead deer rifle. Also installed a WWG trigger happy trigger, stainless steel one. It looks cool. Next addition will be the safety blank that makes it look like a screw.

Five or six limited issues priced from 600-900 bucks depending on how dumb the dealer thinks you are IMHO the CB is as good or better I have seen several of the limiteds even owned a 3 for a while till my son talked me out of it when I got my CB only advantage of the LTD 3 over the CB was it had an 18" barrel so it was a little bit better handleing but not enough to choose it over the CB and the CB makes up in mag capacity and extra range IMHO

The one at the top is a Davidson's LTD 95. The 95CB looks like the 94CB below it- only with the 336 receiver and 26" barrel.
