I would start out by going to as many pro shops as you can and talking to everyone you can. Don't worry too much about brand specific knowledge that they might give you, but rather let them know that you are new and that your son is wanting to get started. You can always decipher the crap, from the good stuff. I would also make a suggestion that you take a look at
www.edersbow.com Go to the discussion forums and ask away and you will get some great knowledge there. Also, any books you can find on bowhunting can be helpful as well. If someone tells you something that you think is wrong ask another person. Edersbow is a bowhunting site and you will get mucho help from them guys as they know their stuff. Bowhunting is at the top of my list as far as hunting goes, you can't beat having a nice buck right underneath your tree and knowing that you "might?" have outsmarted him.
