I've read some posts here about how to date your Marlin 336 but they don't seem to work for mine. Its a 336A I bought in 1969 used for $75, my first big game rifle, I was all of 12 years old, cut grass all summer long to raise the funds for it. Serial # E23... Any ideas when it was built?

"E" = 1948, the very first year of the Marlin Model 336.

Nothing like a good 336!
