I posted about the hiking sticks I got from Cabelas. They have the anti-shock system. There are little stickers all over the poles about how great the system is and how they can be turned on or off. The problem is that nowhere do they say HOW they're turned on or off. There are no instructions either on the poles or the printed tags that came attached to them. I've dismantled them and see no provision for locking them. The length is easily adjusted, but I can't find any way to disable the springs. The length adjustment cams are above the springs. To lock them, the cams would have to be BELOW the springs.

Any suggestions?

Dick,
Usually you can give the tips a quarter turn twist to lock/unlock the anti-shock system. I'm not sure about yours, but mine work this way. Hang on to the handle and twist the tip (or the other way around).

Ahah. That wasn't it, but it gave me an idea. On these, you hold the middle section and twist the grip 1/8 turn. Now, how hard would it be for them to say that on the label? Must be made in Cambodia or some such place.

My new poles lock out with a 1/8th turn +/- of the middle joint. Pretty cool feature I think.
