Which is better, Pacific Tool and Gauge reamers, or Dave Manson reamers?
Any other manufacturers to consider?
Looking to do a .17 Remington Fireball or a .17 Remington build.

I have several old reamers, unmarked and have rented dozens of reamers, maker unknown so I can't comment exactly on your question. But a .308 match and a 6.5x55 , and a .38-55 from PT&G, all cut evenly on all 6 flutes. PT&G's pilots are ground dead nuts on when you order them. That, my friend is perfection. Never saw that with any of the other reamers I've used. If you use a slightly heavy feed, they will NOT chatter. The finish is superb. Like any reamer, a too light feed and they will chatter. I'd be surprised if Manson's weren't just as good. No room out there this day and age for poor tools. One man's opinion.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

I have reamers from both and have started using Manson as my first choice just because service has been better. I have JGS reamers also and they are excellent. My favorites are from Hugh Henriksen. GD

I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

I love everything about the Manson reamers except the e-clip that holds the bushing in place. A chore to swap bushings compared to the screw type. I have good cutting tools from all the makers listed, and a couple that do not cut well at all and those all came from the same company PTG. When I order a new reamer JGS gets the call, new 700 bolts, recoil lugs PTG. I own an old South Bend and just do work for myself as a hobby.

PT&G has managed to slip into last place. The last one I got from them was a real disaster......JGS for the win.

JGS will ship to Canada for about the same money as anyone else. 12-16 weeks for the .17 Remington.
