I have had a couple 700’s that wouldn’t shoot well enough to keep out of the box. I still own a browning A bolt that I’ve tried everything to help it shoot and about to give up on. I own many Savage rifles that shot amazing right out of the box and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another.

Right...... This is a no BS, factory trigger, factory stock LTR. I'll admit that I did paint the stock. Not a fluke. Your experience may well be different.

Had one 700 didn't shoot out of the box. But the scope base holes were off and the Redfield mount and rings fixed it. I like my Sako fullstocks and the BLR's. The 7600 shoots great. Ask four pigs in my freezer if the Steyr Scout does well? All of them are minute of deer as well as the Ruger tanger fullstock. So old but it still shoots, way better than minute of deer in 308. I don't have a complaint on any of my centerfire rifles. Only shooter error ever causes me to miss. Hope you get yours this season and Be Well, Rustyzipper.

46 + or - a grain Varget and the 308 is unfair. lol. heck, a blowgun could provide that accuracy with that load...

(OK, just kidding, wow, and at 200 yards)

thing is, all five rifles are reputed to be very accurate, easily sub MOA if the shooter does his part; yet there just ain't much love for some very accurate platforms...

why is that? ergos? trigger? mag confines? can't field strip the bolt? press-fit barrel, Global Warming? Disaster first date? You can get the wall-flowers dressed in something other than 277 so it can't be "oh, that rifle has the 270-gay"...

Savage is another rifle that there isn't much love for; never due to lack of accuracy, though.

I VERY much enjoy, how Fhuqking CLUELESS Droolers "annoint" themselves as being capable of a "critique". REALITY is,the less you "know" or "do"...the "better" everything is,as you CLUELESS Kchunts so eloquently attest. Hint. Congratulations?!?

You DUMB Fhuqks cain't even afford scopes, for the schit rifles you are TRYING to "endorse". Hint. LAUGHING!

Bless your hearts, for doing your best, with what incredibly little you "have",to "work" with.

Hint.

LAUGHING!...............

Just curious, what is your ideal cartridge, rifle and scope for an “all purpose” hunting rifle? Up to whitetail sized game?

Barrett Fieldcraft 21" 7-08. Alpha 308 brass sized for finite headspace control,Re-17,200's and a 180 ELD-M Smooch at 2600fps. 1pc 1913 extended rail,utilizing all (5) 8x40 supplied holes,as much inclination as I can get in same,SWFA 30mm Low's and a 6x MQ Fixed Fhuqker zero'd at the 200yd line,with as much ring spacing as allowed. Hint.

It has the COAL,Throat Geometry and RPM to connect all dots, like no other. The recoil to performance ratio is exceptionally favorable,it handles well,is superbly balanced and the total mass is nil, given the capabilities. Components abound, logistics are a non-issue and it's a blueprint which is FUN to use,so it will actually get shot. Hint.

There's ZERO fhuqking bullschit or Fluff and they are ruggedly fhuqking reliable,in all regards. Zero retention and tracking are a given and the parcel happily chews up and spits out "bigger" offerings. Hint.

Thank me later.

Just saying.

Being that I live 10 minutes from the Barrett factory, that makes great sense. Also, if I could spend a week to pick your brain, I can tell I would learn a lot about chit I have no clue about.

Stick’s suggestion sounds great, but unfortunately Barrett is not manufacturing 7mm-08 rifles any longer, at least for now, so they are pretty much unobtainum. You might find one on the used market, or new old stock somewhere, but you’ll definitely have to look around. I’m currently using a Tikka Superlite in 7mm-08, with the long action bolt stop and LA mags. The Tikka twist prob wont let me run the 180 ELD, but it runs great with the 162s.

Teeker 7-08's are 1-9.5" and welllllllll shy of the mark. Hint. Congratulations?!?

Hornie 162's run the gamut in their relative length and Reserve RPM simply adds BC to the equation,in all atmospheres. Hint.

Low tide on a cold day,will impede 162 ELD-M's as "heralded",which are yet well lacking of a 180 ELD's abilities/merit. Hint.

Bless your heart.

It gives me a great deal of satisfaction that when I type Sauer 100 222 into a search this comes up on top-

That thing was a dog. There's no way I'll fall for that again. BTW, I just shot the Anschutz 153 .222 I bought to replace the Sauer a couple three days ago and low and behold, that thing shoots factory ammo in the same hole and actually feeds. The action is designed for the .222 not a 30/06 with blocks in the magazine.

No more "economy" rifles for me.

It's gonna be tough to whoop the 21" Fieldcraft in 264 Kreedmire with 147's. The Kreedmire's bane is the .199" SALAMI freebore and the Barrett 3"+ COAL latitude box,can/will/do happily contend that. It'll shoot softer than the 7-08/180 melding and is obviously easily supported over the counter, with Factory Fodder that'll do nice thangs(.697 BC at 2700fps). I much prefer to drive Alpha,'17,200's and 147 Smooches...so I do. Hint.

While I prefer Montucky ergo's,Fieldcraft mechanics are without peer,in a S/A .473" boltface. They whipped Mel at his own game....................
