I’m a huge fan of 2-10 scopes for hunting.
But lately I’ve been wanting little more top end for ringing steel out past 500/600 yards and really enjoying the tract 3-12 on my tikka super lite 6.5CM

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Ended up having SWFA price match the Leupold VX3i 2.5-8X36 and that's going to be mounted in a set of Talley lows.
$325 shipped to me.

If I end up wanting/needing better glass in the future I can upgrade but I think the Leupold will serve me well.

Probably better options with 270 level recoil anyway.

I never followed up on this. I see in the other thread the OP went a different direction, but just for future reference - the SWFA UL has plenty of mounting room on a Fieldcraft LA or NULA 24 with talley lightweights.

Is this the one that seems to be so popular?

Nope. In fact most people seem to hate it.

No. That one has rather mixed feedback.

On your list, the SWFA 3-9 if you want most dependable and least expensive. NF if you want dependable and have a bit more money. For me weight is a concern for a light rifle. I picked the Swaro Z5 3.5-18 X44 with turret for my Forbes. It has been more than excellent for a few years now. Possibly not as rugged as a NF or SWFA but I tend to take good care of my equipment. If I was going to strap it on a 4-wheeler, SWFA would possibly be a better choice.

Hopefully the OP will chime in and say what he went with all these years later.

Yeah, this one has been around a while...

I like to try a lot of different scopes/rifles, out of curiosity as much as anything. Over the past several years, for general all around hunting, I've found it very hard to beat the SWFA 3-9 if I want to dial and the SHV 3-10 w/Forceplex if I'm not dialing or dialing very little. They're both just solid all around reliable scopes that hold zero, adjust correctly, have usable hunting reticles, decent glass, decent user characteristics, and aren't extremely expensive. There are scopes I prefer to them for somethings, but for my use, there's nothing they can't handle well with the main deciding factor between them being how much dialing I plan to do with it.
