Always looking to improve equipment so I will do some testing but would like some input on the $6- $1k range scopes.
I have: VX-L VX-5hd Swarovski habicht Kahles KX
Haven’t had a chance to try them all but will in the next month or so. The Leupolds I have and like them but Leupolds don’t seem to track well. The VX-5hd is really clear and so far is nice. Just before this post I was about to order the NF shv but the fov is 35’ vs the VX-5hds 57’, big difference. I really like the way my other NFs track though. Looks like the only scope with a big fov is the VX-5hd. Any thoughts or other scopes I should try? Post hunting season here so I’m looking for a reason to shoot my deer rifles.

Bought a mint condition NXS for 2.5-10 for $1300. Seems quite nice, may want to add that to the list. 44' field of view at 100.

I have both the VX-5HD (2-10) and the SHV (3-10).
The FOV, as you say, is much wider with the Leupold than the Nightforce, but I like the size of the NF vs the Leupold (the SHV is noticeably smaller) and though the VX-5HD hasn't given me a reason to not trust tracking, I seriously doubt the NF ever will.
Glass is better on the Leupold. But the SHV is not marginal by any means.
I believe if I could only buy one, I'd go SHV with the Forceplex reticle. You'd have one seriously reliable hunting scope.

There's never a reason to purchase a Swaro rifle scope. Love their binos but their scopes, in a word, suck.

You can get a capped turret 2-10 leupold, then tracking really isn’t an issue. Mine sighted in fine. It’s a great scope for everything but very low light, when I think you’ll find any mid-sized objective scope will not be optimal. Mine is solid to 35 minutes past sunset with no moon.

I have a capped 2-10 leupold and it is one of my favorites so far but haven’t messed with it enough. I have liked the VX-L until I got the VX-5HD and I see an improvement. I forget about the 3.5-10x44mc Zeiss I have so I’ll have to throw it in the line up, I do know it tracks well.

I’ve used the Vx5HD. It’s a fantastic scope. As close to the ideal hunting scope as I’ve seen.

Just compared the
Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44MC Leupold VX-L 3.5-10x50 Leupold VX-5HD 2-10x42 Swaroski Hab 3-9x42
Really like spitting hairs but as far as glass goes here is how they look to me: VX-5hd Swaroski Then the VX-L and Conquest seem about the same. Conquest does trac better. I’ll throw in the Kahles next time out.

Find a Zeiss Victory Diavari 2.5-10x42. If you can find one it’ll generally be at the high end of your price range and worth every penny
