The family, along with the in-laws is converging on Tucson to spend the holiday next week.
I might need to get away from the family for a little while.

Is there any good gun shops that would be worth a visit?

Any out of the way attractions that you would recommend?

Thanks

Dave

All of the above plus don’t overlook Old Tucson and also Karchner caverns and or Collosal cave if you are into caves.
Wondering is Mt Lemmon has snow on it now??? Might be a cold lunch...lol

San Javier del Bac Mission.

A second on the Sonoran Desert Museum.

Saguaro National Park maybe, especially if you're a senior and have a Pass.

Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse. Eat a Cowboy Steak...............better yet, eat 2 like I did when I was in my 20's.

Enjoy your time down there.

Murphys Firearms has a good selection of used revolvers, and rifles, it's a good shop if you don't mind some of [bleep] behind the counter.

I second Kartchner Caverns, it's a rare jewel of a place(shameless plug: it was discovered on my great grandfather Kartchner's ranch)

if you are armed, run down to nogales and turn right, few miles down the road to patagonia is a turn to the south that will take you to the old port of entry, closed, at duesqne. about a mile past there is the old green ranch with the ranch house john wayne used in filming Big Jake, where he kept throwing his hat on the weather vane. Be careful in there, you is right on the fence with mexico, and there are times it's sporty in there.
There is a mexican restaurant right next to the UofA can't remember it's name. They cook the beef in lime juice in the rafters. pretty good stuff.
all the suggestions are good, but you if you drive a little and get into cochise county, there is some very beautiful country.
tucson is mostly where we keep all the liberals in arizona.

Think that was the McClintock movie where he kept tossing his hat on the weather vane.
Be worth seeing regardless.

i always get the movies mixed up. it's worth seeing t ho.
you can't get up to the ranch house, now owned by i think the gooberment, but you can see it from a distance.
just south of sierra vista is where crossfire ops lived, and herefor was where some of the players at the o.k. corral lived. palominas is where john wayne used to run cattle across the border.
this is just down the road from greg's place. it got sporty once in there too. wierd people.
miracle valley after the religious stuff died down was later used as a rally point for the people staking out the border.
I hesitate to recommend some of these places to outsiders, and there is a real threat of danger at some times. but peck's canyon is just north of nogales, and you could see where brian terry met his end.
ruby, is a fascinating place

again, it's how far you want to drive, but down to douglas/aqua prieta, villa took aqua prieta during the revolution.
there is a bar in the big hotel in douglas, villa use to like to drink there. marble staircase going up to second floor.
story goes villa was drunk and tried to ride his horse up there resulting in some chips out of the marble.
pretty good place to have lunch, and that bar dates back to the 1800's, all the movers and shakers drank there.

Thanks for the input.

The group spans from my 10 YO son to my 80 YO f-i-l.

Here are the requests from the family.

Pima Air & Space
Sonora Desert Museum
ASARCO copper mine
Titan Missle Museum
Saguaro National Park

One of the group wants to do Biosphere 2, has anyone been there? Can they give any input?
Old Tucson, is it worth the admission price?

Thanks

Biosphere is a dump or was a year ago.....

Which Asarco mine do you want to go look at? Not really viewable up close unless you want to go into Kearney where the Ray Mine has a viewing area. An old open pit mine in Bisbee also does but is no longer operable.

Old Tucson is cool but $$$...

Just remember to not wear a tie. They will come and cut it in two. Lot's of trophy ties hanging from the ceiling. Good steaks though.
