The Sako 222 is from the 1950s. I have one like it with the safety on the bolt. They are nice rifles. Congratulations on your purchases. +1. I've got one as well. They are sweet shooting rifles. Feed mine 19.5gr 4198 with a 52gr Sierra HPBT....barrel should be a 14 twist. You definitely had a good day!

Thanks for the link. I guess they only had one and it was sold while it was in my cart.

Both are nice additions to any collection!
So, just how good of a deal were they?

So, just how good of a deal were they? I really don’t want to say how much $. I’m definitely a regular guy, single income, dad of three girls, cop family. I do work a little extra duty for my lunches, toys, gifts, etc... I had a little $ stacked away and I think the base of the deal came from the caliber the Dakota’s chambered in. At this point, I’m not sure I should keep the Dakota or not.

Re-barrel the Dakota to a more popular cartridge.

Love that Dakota I’m sure if you visited the Dakota factory in Sturgis they could make it into what you want. Recently had them thread my 280 for a suppressor and they reblued just the barrel to keep cost down. Now I wish I had them pillar and glass bed it while it was there.
