Finally got a problem child shooting well. A Tikka T3x in 6.5 Creedmoor. Never shot very well the past few trips, 1 3/4" to 3" at 100 for 5 rounds. Had used mostly lighter weight bullets, 120 to 130g. Tried some 140's and things got better, but not to my expectations with a Tikka. Decided for no particular reason to take the action out of the stock. Didn't see any issues, no rubs, bright spots etc. Carefully put it back in the stock and tightened the action screws equal. Today it shot anything into 1" and less 120's to 140's. J P Sauer 7X64 surprised me, 150 ELD-X with RL19 below max shot a bug hole group (basically one hole) 3000fps+ book says it should have been 2800fps (Hornady) Labradar which has always been accurate so far. Will load some more and see if I can repeat it.

That does sound very interesting! Will be interested in your continuing results.

Little things make a difference, hey? 👍

I figure the 7x64 the equivalent of the .280 Rem. Had one some years ago, it did similar tricks, but velocity and accuracy.

I am..........disturbed.

Gremlins.......... You scared them away when the stock was removed. Hopefully they won't return.

It was the first time I have ever gotten a Barnes load to shoot MOA and better. Usually they have been OK, but nothing to get excited about. Velocity was a bit down, only 2700 or so Barnes manual said 2800. Again will reload and verify. Hornady's loads are only listed in 100fps increments, unlike others that state measured velocity. Not really concerned with the MAX load, as long as it is accurate. I have bedded rifles etc, but this is the first time taking one out of the stock and replacing caused this big of an improvement.

The action screws probably weren't torqued correctly to begin with and it sounds like you eliminated that variable.

That could very well be, they were not loose, but didn't have a hard time getting them loose either.

Barnes will often shoot best at max load once you get bullet seating depth dialed in.

Well, went back out to the range and the Tikka did as well as before. Thread about 3000fps with a 120 in a 6.5 Creedmoor recently, with Barnes TTSX only 2850 at the max load. I did hit 3000fps with a Nosler load with 125g Partitions. 24" barrel. Sauer did well with the ELD-X loads , 2950 and accurate. think I have these two sorted out.
