Now if we could get some of these guys here that trap hogs to test some ammunition like the Liberty ammo and other hot stuff. We would have some great conversations.

Mine as well. I have quite a bit of faith in the setup.

I like your 6” barrel but really like the P226 in the Sig. pretty versatile with a 40 S&W barrel and a 22 conversion kit.

It likes Buff Bore 125’s at 1425.

Up to now I've only used S&B 140gr FMJ. 1380 fps in the 6" barrel. This has been an outdoors pistol.

I just ordered a couple boxes of the Underwood 65gr Extreme Defender. Going to see what that is all about. If I start carrying the 357 Sig in town, I'll likely be using the Underwood load.

MM,

What does the 357 SiG do, in real terms, that a 9mm +p+ will not?

Yeah your standard barrel length makes more sense for regular carry. Faster out of the holster, quicker presentation.

Mine with the 6" barrel has been more of a 'woods gun'.

I think most all my ammo is 125 grains...practice and carry.

In the G19 with the 23 slide assembly .40 S&W/165s, 9mm 124s and SIG 125s all shoot to the same POA at 35 yards...

With the 10mm G40 I'm also using 140-165 grain bullets and using the .357 SIG 125s POI is about 2" lower at 35 yards than the 10mm rounds...

May be mistaken, but my guess is going to be that the 65 XD rounds are going to shoot 3-5" lower at 25 yards than standard 125 grain rounds...maybe more. Less muzzle rise and getting out the barrel faster...

From a G40/6" barrel:

Buffalo Bore 125 Gold Dot HPs: 1586 fps

Underwood 115 Xtreme Defender: 1583 fps

Speer 125 Gold Dot HPs: 1471fps

Winchester whitebox 125 JHP: 1487 fps

Speer Lawman 125 TMJ: 1382 fps

Appalachian Ammo (Maine based reloading company) 125 JHP: 1440 fps

If you have x amount per month for purchasing practice ammo, it's better spent on 9mm than on .357 Sig. More rounds down range.

Buy a few less coffees at Dunks, go out to eat !ess, etc.

It helps to simply have a metric schitt ton of .357 Sig ammo readily on hand.

I'm not the Duty Expert, but I'd say on average, it adds around 200 fps with equal bullet weight, and equal barrel length.

We still have a bunch in inventory. Those of us that kept one on hand have access to it!
A few other folks that were getting out of the .357 game traded me case-for-case for 9mm that I had on hand.

Last I saw 9mm +P+ 115s were in the mid 1300s.... Underwood has +P+ 124s listed at 1300 fps...

https://www.underwoodammo.com/produ...cket-hollow-point?variant=18785729380409

Their 125 SIG loads are listed at 1475...

...but neither list the barrel lengths...

Thanks, I was just going to post that.

So appropriately 175 FPS more and the benefit of bottle necked feeding.

One reason I'm liking the looks of the Underwood Extreme Defender lineup for a carry load.

..no one using the .357 SIG round seems to be complaining about "over expansion"...

I'll take that any time vs. "under expansion"...
