As it is now our churches have been taking a path away from God...
501(c)(3).
When a church accepts a tax exemption from the government, it agrees to play by certain governmental rules, and accepts a certain degree of governmental oversight.
Money matters to churches too. A lot.

Bob,

I think you need new glasses.

The Calendar say 2020, not 1220.

yea....that's not going to happen.

Some folks like a literal interpretation of certain parts of that document but not other parts.

e.g. "Shall not be infringed"

then there's "All persons born"................

Nothing there about all persons "conceived" that I can see.

But at the same time it is not any of the governments business. Abortion has been practiced for centuries and was never seen as a problem by our churches. It was not made illegal in this country until just prior to the Civil War. And even then it wasn't made illegal for moral purposes. Doctors and mid-wives were losing too much business and lobbied the government to make it illegal on the basis that the techniques used at the time were dangerous to the mothers. It was about the money even then.

Our churches and religious leaders never considered abortion to be a moral issue until AFTER the Roe v Wade decision. Spending 40 years trying to overturn Roe v Wade was the biggest mistake our churches ever made. if our churches had taken the right approach and actually done something to offer girls other options the abortion clinics would have closed due to lack of business. No pregnant woman has an abortion because they want to. They do it because they see it as the only option.

There were at least 1/2 dozen girls I knew from HS between the mid 70's and mid 80's that got pregnant. All but one had an abortion. It was pretty well known, but never spoken of and with plausible deniability. All of the girls who had abortions went on to be happily married and are now considered pillars of the community because their dirty little secret could be kept in the dark. The ONE girl who chose to have her child and give it up for adoption was vilified by the church community. So much so that she had to leave town after graduating and has never come back. Seems to me that if our churches really wanted to stop abortion the opposite would have been the case.

Planned Parenthood is the target of the churches scorn, but the fact is that PP has done 10X more to reduce the number of abortions in this country than our churches have. The number of abortions are at an all time low and it is due to the fact that birth control is being offered as an option. Something our churches have opposed vigorously.

Making sin illegal isn't our job as Christians. The sooner we figure that out and get back to doing what we are supposed to do the sooner things in this country will improve. As it is now our churches have been taking a path away from God and have been since the 1970's

Well Said...

Now, for those in favor of overturning RvW.

What does old English law say about abortion before the "quickening"?

I have a question for you Robert.

How many unwanted children have you adopted?
How many have you just opened your door to even temporarily in their time of need?

Beaver 10, you need to read this book.
Your Utilitarian ethic equates to a simple majority voting to force Socrates to drink poison.
Or two men and a woman shipwreck on an island and the men voting to allow rape on Tuesday Friday and Monday.

America was not founded on a Utilitarian ethic. That is Hitler and Stalin and all Marxists.

The Declaration asserts God given inalienable rights sustained by just governments for individuals.
If you do not believe in Jefferson's creed at this point maybe you should take your own advice and shut your stupid godless Marxist mouth.

Is he not answering because his answer would be a whole number less than one?

Bob,

Let me show you how easy it is to answer this question.

In my case the answer is 2, and that was on top of the 5 kids I already had at the time.

Life begins at conception, since it starts to grow and it can only grow if it is alive

Yes, because anything not clearly addressed and spelled out is forever open to interpretation by the courts. The ongoing snit over the RKBA is one example. One shouldn't have to read a bunch of old writings by the founders or the authors of later amendments to figure out what they really meant. Say it outright and unequivocally, so there's no doubt.

Also, of course is the matter under discussion. Roe v. Wade is based on interpretation that creates a right to privacy that's also not spelled out.

Your diligence and or my accused dereliction is a false argument and you know it.
Because you adopted two black kids, does not equate to justifying the mass murder of over 60 million helpless children.

Let's not forget that Chief justice Blackmun was prejudiced and as I stated earlier,he should have recused himself.

His daughter became pregnant, out of wedlock, then she married her boyfriend. When her marriage failed Blackmun blamed the birth of the child. It just like liberals to foist blame on anyone else except the two individuals truly responsible for the pregnancy.

The Roe v Wade was based upon numerous lies. These lies render the courts decision a fraud and all arguments for murdering children moot.

Jane Roe had been raped.

60% of Americans wanted legalized abortion.

One million illegal abortions had taken place in the U.S.

10,000 women had died from illegal abortions.

The embryo/fetus/preborn are not human beings.

Communist Goals

26. Present homosexuality and degeneracy as normal.
27. Discredit the Bible.
28. Eliminate prayer in the schools.

That last sentence pretty much sums up rw's level of discourse and the quality of thinking that guides it.

He has yet to be right about anything but compensates w/ volume, very tiresome.
