We want to build a shooting table / platform for two shooters. We plan on building with metal, install two rotating chairs connected to a shooting bench. Any plans or ideas. Ken

Propaneman: Ken I have built and bought many a "one man" shooting "bench" for pickup beds and still own three of them right now. But a two man "fixed" bench with "rotating chairs" does confuse me a bit. Here is how I and my Varmint and predator Hunting friends have got two people to shoot at the same time from a pickup bed = ONE person has a "rotating" (swiveling bench usually with three legs and a more or less fixed seat that rotates with the bench) and then the "second shooter" has his set-up "atop" the pickup's roof! This rooftop shooting position is a VERY stable shooting position - in fact one of my shooting partners is nicknamed "rooftop" as he much prefers this roof based shooting position/platform. Using "my" method the rotating bench shooter has about a 270 degree shooting "circle" and the roof top shooter has about 150 degrees of field of fire (without moving the truck)! With your method two shooters would have to share about 180 degrees of field of fire until they "move the truck"? Does that make sense to you? I have been Varminting from pickup beds for well over 50 years now and this makes sense to me. Best of luck to you in your quest. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

I have to wonder if 2 shooters/benches/chairs would be a bit cramped in the bed of a pickup. Have you considered a utility trailer?
There are 2 rules to success:
1. Never tell everything that you know.

The unit we saw may have extended slightly beyond the side rails. Two shooters could use the unit. A trailer sounds good the height of the bed was appealing. We have a local FFA class willing to build two nits one for us and the other to Raffle off as a fund raiser. They just need some plans or blue prints to follow.

Varmint Guy thanks for the quick reply. Your method sounds good and we may try doing the two levels, Still looking for plans. I have some pictures of a unit if someone will help me post them.
