A friend recently gave me a really early 5digit s# Gen 1 TC Contender with 10in 44mag and 14in 223 barrels. I took it to the range the other day with the 44mag barrel and had a few cases of gun flying open when fired. I tried 3 types of ammo, Win Whitebox 240gr,Hornady Leverevolution, and underwood 255gr and had the same thing happen with all. Kind of nerve racking to tell the truth. Any ideas what could be the cause?

I would've quit after the first one. Is he really a friend?

“Gave me”. My first thought would’ve been what’s wrong with it😂.

Had the same problem..your gun probably still has the solid one piece locking bolt. It needs to be replaced by the updated one that is a two piece...

Not really sure as I'm not much of a gunsmith.. I was lucky enough to live where TC was made so just took it over to their custom shop and they put a new one on for free while I waited..

I'd just call TC and ask them and also check out the videos on YouTube...
