I picked up a very lightly used SS T3 a few years back and have always wondered if it is the "regular" or "Lite" model. I don't see anything that says Lite on it. How does one determine? Oh it is a SS LT 270.

Thanks

Tiika refers to their standard rifles as Lites..if you have the standard round barrel.

? ? ? Seriously, I don't know about that. Tikka has standard Wood/Blue or SS rifles. (NO criticism intended)

BOTH Tikka 'LITES" I have are SS in Composite.

The T 3 Lite is 270 w and has Tikka SS Rings.

The T 3X Lite is 7 RM and Warne bases, - don't remember whose rings.

I thought there was a "standard" profile, a lite and a super lite (fluted barrel and bolt).

That's my understanding as well. I know the Super lite has the fluted bll.

I’d love a 20” CTR barrel on a regular T3 blueprint.

The Lite is the basic standard Tikka action/barrel in a plastic stock, either CM or SS. The Hunter is the same action/barrel in a wood stock, the forest is more of the same with a flared cheek rest. The Superlite is the same action with a fluted barrel in the same plastic stock, and I think there's a fluted Hunter now too although I don't know if they call it a Superlite or not.

There are heavier barrel profiles, but they are on the Varmint, Tactical, CTR, etc. The standard profile Tikka is the Lite.

There are 5 versions that I’m familiar with and the differences are described below.

1- T3/T3x lite- (standard barrel contour) “lite” has synthetic Stock

2- T3/T3x Hunter- same Barrel contour as a “lite” but with a wood stock

3- T3/T3x CTR- heavier barrel contour than a “lite” but not a “Bull” Barrel. Has CTR 10 round mag different than a lite or SL

4- T3/T3x- Super lite (SL), fluted Barrel but same contour as a “lite”

5- T3/T3x Varmint- same Barrel contour as a CTR but magazine like a lite (not CTR MAG)

Thank you for the replies, I knew someone would know. So, it appears that I have the T3 "lite" with the standard contour barrel.

Does anyone know if they made a T3 super-lite in left-hand?

Thanks, that is more specific info than I had AND I had NOT looked into it. Nice to know.

They are lite
SS is stainless steel.
SL super lite is with flutes

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Good info but varmint models have a heavier barrel than the CTR. CTR 20” muzzle diameter is .790”, varmint is more like .860”

Also, the CTR didn't only come in 20" barrel lengths. It is also made with a 24" tube. Also there were other wood stock options like the laminated and deluxe models. Those were slightly heavier than the other wood stocked models...

Good post Gtscotty. I had to weigh my deluxe yesterday, and it is the same barrel profile as the stainless lite. Weighs about the same as well. Around 6.2 pounds without scope. 7.2 pounds with scope and mounts:
