Anyone out there running a custom 300 WSM built on a long action or a Tikka? I am in the process of building a long throat 300 wsm on a tikka action with the intent of shooting 210-230gr bullets. The chamber will be cut to optimize the tikka long action magazine length of roughly 3.3". This should give a fair amount of extra case capacity without all the bullet stuck down in the case.
Those of you who have built a rifle like this; I have a few questions.
1) is it worth it or should I just build a 300 win mag on a long action and be done?
2) What velocity should I expect with a 208 amax - 225 eldm from regular temp stable powders like h1000, H4831, H4350?
3) Could someone run a quick load on the 225 eldm Winchester brass Fed 215m primers and h1000 seated at 3.25" OAL?
