My dad has a Savage slide action 22 shot/long rifle. the barrel is octagone with 1907 stamped on it. Serial# L437. were can he fine a model # on it or is that all there is.

Dad gave me some bad info, it a Stevens the S# is under the trigger guard, it tube feed, and the patten is April 30 1907.

Probably a Stevens model 70, Visible Loader. Made from 1912ish to 1932. If it has an octagon barrel then it was made in the last two years of production. Should have a pistol grip stock if it has an octagon barrel. Don't get excited by the serial number, Steven recycled them.

Thanks pact! it has visible loader stamped on it. it more of a family heirloom, Dads in his 80's and is starting to hand some of his guns out to the grand kids.
