Gonna want to bone up on your knife sharpening skills while you're at it. Corian is no bueno for edges. At least that was my short lived experience.

You need a carbide tipped blade designed for solid surface.

Machines easily using good carbide woodworking tools.
Sand starting with heavy grit (80 or so) and work down to 400 in about 4 - 5 steps. Use a mask as the dust is nasty. Better yet, use sanders which are coupled to HEPA vac like the Fein system. Finish off with coarse to light scotchbright pads on your sander.

You need a carbide tipped blade designed for solid surface. ^^This. Different anti-chip tooth profile on the blade for plastics and solid surfaces like Corian.

I have made several projects with Corian, cut it with a band saw and milled it with high speed steel end mills. It is relatively soft and machines easily, no need for carbide, used regular router bits to machine decorative edges. Made the wife several pads to set hot pots on from the oval cut outs from bathroom sinks.

You can use steel bits, you just won't be using them for long.

I would suggest a wood cutting board or even those plastic composite ones. Every time we come install a top the clients want a cutting board made from the leftover materials. Even after explaining to them they are using a rock as a cutting board some still request one.

Triple chip carbide blade works good in a circular saw. If you see smoke you are cutting too fast. Mask up. Sand edges to shape progressing to desired polish. Corian has aluminum in it

If you want a corian cutting board I would look into getting carbide edge butcher knives....using common kitchen knives will be dull in one cut into the surface....

The material works great in a screened fish house for cleaning, impervious to,weather, but leave room at one end of the adjoining area for a wood section for vertical cuts as mentioned.

my butchering is pretty much just cutting up deer. it seems like a waste to toss these big chunks of corian. the counter broke so its not good for anything large but there are a couple 2x3 or 4 chunks.
