Sometimes I wish i joined the Army I would if been a bad ass sniper. I’m pretty damn good sniper on Call of duty..
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

To paraphrase one of my best friends, who served with the USMC in Vietnam circa 1967: "I arrived there with a rifle and came home, stuck with a worthless F'n POS". He was kinda opinionated, but seldom wrong.

I'm glad they made it in "at least" a .308. I would have preferred the 300WM . You want this rifle to reach out and touch and "shoot through" barriers...Find them, Fix Them, Screw them up...BAD! Does the Army use the 77gr in the 5.56 or still the 62gr? My Marine SIL did two tours in Iraq, they all had BlackHills 77gr OTM and HP for their 9mms. Force Recon. He said it worked fine in town, but the 7.62 (308) worked "much better" at stopping Suicide Cars/Trucks. For that, they "actually preferred Ma Deuce"! ha

I'm glad they made it in "at least" a .308. I would have preferred the 300WM. Once again, it's a 500-600yd SDM, not a 1000-1200yd sniper rifle. Two different guns for two different purposes. That's also why it's a auto and not a bolt. If you can't get it done with a 308 at 500-600yds, you couldn't get it done with a 300.

That .308 is one cool cat...the toilet paper of cartridges. You can wipe your ass with a pine cone or a chinchilla, but, to date, nothing does it more efficiently than toilet paper.

That has about zero to do with it being 7.62 NATO.

America is the AR platform capital of the world. It would have been interesting to allow domestic manufacturers to produce a piston operated, match grade version of an AR-10 and put it in trials against the HK. .

Why in the world can't we get an American made rifle. I'm sure the German rifle is just fine, but can you trust a culture that puts a pickle in everything they cook. I don't want no German pickles. And they talk funny. Who needs a specific gender adjective with every freaking noun in the language? I think they are obsessed with sex. Never trust that in a rifle builder......

When did this happen? And pray tell what is your experience with “jam-o-matic” SCARs? We received SCAR-Ls in 2009, about 2 months before my last deployment to Iraq. While we were all superstitiously reluctant, 2 range days gave us (collectively) good reason. They jammed.....a lot. They also stayed in NC when we went forward. When I returned, I was present for a unit-level familiarization disguised as a mini-trial. The M17 and M18 have never had drop fire issues. I am no fan of Sig in general, however the drop issue is extremely overblown and mischaracterized across the board. They either did, or did not, fire when dropped.....and they did. “Overblown” is a subjective term.

I'd bet Daniel Defense could produce in the quantities for the Army, American made, American Owned, (it's local to me). I wonder if they even submitted a sample for the competition?

Pondering the memories and particulars and it’s a sad “step forward”. The fuggin’ thing weighs a bit over 15 pounds. It shoots the 7.62x51. There be better ways to approach this perceived need.
Recollections from the zone 50 years ago if you don’t mind. Our Air Cav infantry platoons were armed with M16s except for one sad sack that carried a M14 w/scope. Each of those toters hated that job. Why? 1) the -14 was heavy, 2) they rarely had need for the long range capability, 3) their ammo was not compatible with the rest of the platoon. In short, they were an outcast within their own unit. Unit tactics had nothing to do with their capabilities. They were little more than excess baggage or perhaps the weak link in the team.
This package reminds me of McNamara’s idea of multirole fighters. You know, something that does everything with exceptional mediocrity.
I am..........disturbed.

Why didn't they just get the LMT like all of our allies are doing?
