Do any other Winchester lever guns buttstocks interchange with the 1886 Win? Thanks Phil

Post your question on the Winchester Arms Collectors site. Just my gut, but I’d say that there are not any other buttstocks that will interchange with the M1886.

Well, I think I have found that no other model will fit the 1886. Not what I wanted. Phil

TenX,
I had a 1886 .33 Winchester, needed a buttstock. Stumbled onto a NIB Browning 1886 buttstock at a local gun shop. ( several years ago). As I remember it would fit the original
with some minor inletting mods. Sold both before I did it.
Good luck, there are some out there , in unfinished form.

Thanks but I'm getting ready to cut a piece of wood for an 1886 buttstock and do not have an 1886 pattern. I was hoping another model that I might have would interchange. Phil

There are no other original Winchester stocks that will fit the 1886. The Browning stock can be made to fit but it requires some cutting and fitting around the lower tang. The Browning does not use the same style hammer spring and you must remove material to make it work. Precision Gun Stocks makes a pretty good reproduction but it does require fitting and final shaping.
