Grandson Wyatt has idiopathic toe walking, he's had it since he could first walk. His tendons in his ankles are super tight because of it.

Its affected his balance and mobility of his ankle and knees. Therapy has helped but this is the next step before he goes into leg braces.
If this doesn't work, surgery will have to be done to fix his feet.

Hopefully the casts work in stretching his tendons out.

Roger,
My son had the same, also needed braces... still get PT for it. Avoid surgery if possible.

Coworker's son had the same condition. They treated it successfully a few years ago and he's fine now.

A couple of my female cousins had a tendency to walk on their toes at times, kind of impulsively I think, when they were young.

Best wishes for the little fella Rog.

Sorry to hear of this problem, Roger. Prayers are that he will be OK.

My heart goes out to him Rog, I hate it when some kid gets the short end of the stick, kids should never get the short stick.

One good thing is he'll grow up tougher and more appreciative than other kids.

My dad had Perthes Disease when he was young and was in a full body cast for 4 years, the 5th year he was on crutches. He was glad to be able to be on the crutches because he could play base ball and run with them. He grew up tough and soft hearted.

What does that kid like Roger?

My parents told me I walked and ran on my toes until I was about 5. Because of that, my calve muscles have always been large compared to most people. I didn't stop running on my toes at 5, but I started walking normal. They were about ready to send me to a doctor. People comment on my calves from time to time and my goofy friends say I look like Popeye from the knees down. I can never find a tall boot that will fit over my calves, and I wear a size 13.
