Howdy,
Bringing a .350 Magnum back to its 1965 glory. Perusing front sights for sale, I see a .550 height as well as a .595 height.
For the .350 which is correct? (I would assume the .550 may be right, commensurate with the trajectory of the .350, reserving the .595 for the faster/lighter chamberings).
Who's got one with the nose gear intact and can measure it (or know off the top of your head because you had to replace yours too)?
Here's hoping I don't have to say, "Time is up! Our panel is stumped!"
Thanks!

IMHO, call X/S sights and ask them to send you a couple of "Try sights" They are plastic segmented posts with a dovetail on the bottom. They push into the front sight base dovetail. You start high and shoot the rifle, clipping a segment off of the top, then shooting again, until the rifle is zeroed. Then you remove and measure the "Try sight" and you have your correct front sight height. I have saved some money by not buying the incorrect height sight this way. RJ

Thanks for the reply. Have some of those try sights, and you are right: they often solve this problem. Not applicable here (at least not the ones I have: dovetailed). The 600 sights screw-on and are somewhat "unique" to put it kindly.

Not sure if this helps - but I just measured it on my 6.5 Mag and it appears to be .550. If this is measured from the top of the plastic rib to the top of the sight.

Thanks for the input on the 6.5. So much for my theory the screamer had a taller sight (as compared to the thumper). Still looking for hard data on the .350, but I'm leaning now to the .550 height.
.....And to confirm: your 6.5 is a 600 not a 660?

Correct it is a model 600 6.5 Mag from I believe 1967 - the one on the left. The other is a .308 from earlier - I just measured it and its also .550 if that helps.
